Rene Paul is one of the few pianist-singers on the Estonian blues scene whose style combines soulful vocals with authentic boogie-woogie energy. His performance at this year’s Augustibluus offers a rare opportunity to experience the blues in its most raw and intimate form—just a man and a piano.
Rene is a two-time winner of the Estonian Blues Band Competition, having earned recognition with both the Rene Paul Blues Band and Kaisa Ling Thing. His connection to the blues began right in his hometown of Haapsalu, at the Augustibluus festival. To date, he has performed on the main stage of the prestigious Notodden Blues Festival in Norway and given concerts in New York, Berlin, the UK, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Latvia.
In a world saturated with guitars, Rene Paul proves time and again that the piano doesn’t have to be merely an accompaniment—it can be a full-throttle blues engine.
